Top Ten Television Shows to Watch This Summer: Day Six

Number 5: True Blood

When I first started watching this show I had binged watched the first four season in less than a week. As sad as that sounds, I was absolutely obsessed with what this show was selling, until I watched the fifth season live. Glancing back now I can see they were using this last season as a stepping stone for this upcoming season, but what a disappointing way to go out for Alan Ball. This season we will meet Billith, formerly known as Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer), and how the group is trying to save him from his new transformation. Even better is the hand Warlow (Rutger Hauer) had in putting him there, and yes that is the same Warlow that killed Sookie’s (Anna Paquin) and Jason’s (Ryan Kwanten) parents. While Sookie was lacking in the love scene area last year, we can expect the same rivalry between Bill and Eric (Alexander Skarsgard) but there will also be a newcomer trying to gain Sookie’s affections, fellow faerie Ben (Robert Kazinsky). We can expect to see Sookie still dealing with her draining faerie powers, and how Pam’s (Kristin Bauer van Straten) and Tara’s (Rutina Wesley) relationship is coming along. This season will pick up right were we left off with Season Five, but you shouldn’t worry about what the show may hold because Lafayette (Nelsan Ellis) will find a way to make it is fabulous.

  • True Blood will premiere on Sunday, June 16th at 9/8c on HBO
