Award shows are great for two reasons: 1) they provide a glimpse into the mind of award winners and losers, 2) the fashion. Last year, I was so upset with the fashion choices that I refused to even create a top 10, but this year the actors and actresses finally brought their “A” game. Few honorable mentions before we get started: 1) Scarlett Johansson looked divine in her emerald Versace dress, unfortunately that neckpiece was a disaster, 2) Zendaya was killing it her Vivienne Westwood gown, 3) snaps for the sultry Jenna Dewan Tatum in Zuhair Murad, 4) America Ferrera dazzled in her Jenny Packham gown, the awkwardness up top held it back from being on the best dressed though.
#10: Keira Knightley was a whimsical dream in Valentino. After struggling with the pregnancy fashion, she finally found a dress that fit both her personality and her style perfectly.
#9: If you looked up modern Hollywood glam, Reese Witherspoon would be pictured. She is effortlessly classy, and her Tom Ford Dress played to her strengths.
#8: A pearl dress seems like a risky choice, but Lupita Nyong’o delivered in her custom Calvin Klein dress. The pearls glistened under the flashing lights, helping to make Lupita a true vision in white.
#7: Rosamund Pike finally arrived. After several fashion flops at previous award shows, Pike showed the hot mama she is in a red hot Givenchy gown.
#6: Champagne was the color of the night, and Jennifer Aniston looked oh so nice. Taking a night away from her typical LBD, Aniston was a tall drink of water in her Versace gown.
#5: Motherhood never looked as good as it did on Zoe Saldana. Her Atelier Versace gown accentuated every curve perfectly, and to put it simply Saldana looked beautiful.
#4: Anna Kendrick brought some color to the awards show in her coral Thakoon dress, and it was stunning. The gown was very flattering to her slim, petite figure.
#3: Channeling her inner Olivia Pope, Kerry Washington killed it in her understated Miu Miu dress. I love me some Washington, and seeing her shimmy in this dress made me love her more.
#2: Jennifer Lopez may still be Jenny from the block, but she was a modern fairytale in this princess Elie Saab dress. Making sure to compliment her “Golden Globes,” Lopez was the perfect blend of sexy and classy.
#1: While my husband hated this dress (mostly the color), I was blown away by how truly gorgeous Emma Stone is. Her Elie Saab Haute Couture gown reminded me of Red from Transistor, and with Stone’s vibrant copper locks she looked like an award all on her own. Who needs an oscar when you got a Lego one anways?
While the ladies of the night were strutting their stuff like it was New York Fashion Week, the guys were sporting new accessories that aren’t the usual at award shows. You might be curious what I am referencing, but deep down you know that I am talking about the beards. While some of the guys used it to help enhance their looks, others were straight up tripping (I am looking at your weird baby scruff goatee Channing Tatum, and your mess of a beard Matthew McConaughey). Before I start beating a dead horse with beard etiquette, here are the men that got it right.
#5: Jared Leto was rocking the “Jesus” beard and wavy hair. While it may seem a little messy, Leto was perfectly groomed in his baby blue tux.
#4: Chris Pine showed his aging with grace. His dark black suited was complimented with her slightly graying hair and beard.
#3: David Oyelowo was killing it in his Dolce & Gabana burgundy tux, but he stepped it up to the next level by letting his 5’o clock shadow run free.
#3: Chris Evans already won the hearts of women all across the world when he walked Betty White up the stairs, but his nicely groomed beard is just putting him on a whole other level of awesome.
#1: Steve Carell grabbed the attention of ladies everywhere when he donned a pair of sleek glasses, but he was deemed a DILF because of his awesome salt and pepper beard. While Ryan Gosling knew it all along, Carell finally proved that he was truly better than the GAP. Also winning him brownie points, he sports some ‘He for She’ cufflinks that won Emma Watson’s heart.
